Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) is a hot topic nowadays. Everyone is talking about this new concept to grow in society, business, and life. However, this is not something new, since the time of our ancestors we have so many examples of initiatives for DE&I.
Among those initiatives, the main is for FEMALES. Earlier our elders were fighting for equal rights for females, and the inclusion of females in society.
So, what is this Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion?
Why this is important to grow in society?
How can we adopt this culture?
So many questions, and so many answers. Everyone has described it as per his/her own belief.
According to me, DE&I is “RESPECT”. Respect for every community, respect for every gender, respect for every age, respect for every view, respect for every thought, respect for HUMAN beings. And it must start with us.
First, we need to make a habit to ask ourselves “SO WHAT”. If she is going to the office, “SO WHAT”. If he is cooking “SO WHAT”.
For the Corporate Word, we are talking about age, racism, gender, area, and so on… But I would like to add to build the culture of DE&I in the corporate world is to keep EGO ASIDE.
Allow to enter new thoughts with new minds irrespective of any biasness of age, gender, racism, etc. is DIVERSITY.
If you are a senior and your junior is having good thoughts in comparison to you then you should accept that, that is INCLUSION.
Giving respect to everyone is EQUITY.
At last, DE&I is the core to success in the future for society, business, and individuals. Only we can grow if we accept and motivate equality in our surroundings.
So do not wait and ask “SO WHAT”
